The Indian Constitution offers privilege for its amendment. Amendments are necessary since a law which seems reasonable today may lose importance after few years. In India, there have been 94 amendments since it was first enacted in 1950. Last was in 2006.
My point on writing this article is that if we could amend our constitution, why cannot we amend our religious texts? Both play a major role in our lives. In fact the religious texts have more impact since we are taught about them during teenage itself. The ideas theses texts convey become rigid for life and are difficult to alter.
I believe that there are flaws in these texts as they are written by human like us. No God came on earth and wrote these books.
For
Not practical and misleading at times.
Written by human beings not God.
Same information transferred to future generations.
Against
Should keep the originality.
Majority will be against the amendment (why?).
My opinion
In my opinion the religious texts should be amended from time to time. They should not be taught in the way they are written at least in schools. Instead edited versions should replace them. Only adults should be allowed to study original text.
Also I will edit this post some day when I will care about it, huh.
